NOW, CAPE TOWN.
In celebration of The Art Cave’s 5th year of the YES LET’S Experimental Festival, developed in collaboration with The Market Theatre Laboratory in Johannesburg, the YES LET’S journey now makes its way to Cape Town.
YES LET’S is a playground for young, fresh theatre makers to flex their muscles, test new ideas and begin the journey of creating new work.
Through a process of development, experimentation and a little bit of mentorship, eight creatives have each been given the space to nurture a seed of an idea.
The YES LET’S Experimental Festival marks a moment in that growth - eight creatives bringing eight new productions into existence.
For its Cape Town edition, the festival unfolds across two nights, with four creatives taking the stage each evening to share 20-minute extracts of their developing works.
A Walking Conundrum - Akho Zuzani

Redes Hoekom Ons Opgee - Shannon Roode

The YES LET’S Experimental Festival is an initiative founded and developed by The Art Cave to create opportunities for emerging theatre practitioners, encourage artistic experimentation, strengthen creative ecosystems and contribute to the continued development of the performing arts sector.
Spearheaded by Tebogo Malapane and Phila Nxumalo, The Art Cave is thrilled to work alongside Theatre Arts to bring the YES LET’S Experimental Festival to Cape Town for the first time.
For Theatre Arts, this collaboration speaks directly to the organisation’s commitment to nurturing artists, developing new work and creating meaningful platforms for the next generation of theatre makers.
Bridging gaps between cities, artists and creative communities is at the heart of this collaboration.
Five years ago, YES LET’S began in Johannesburg with a simple belief: give artists the room to try.
Now, that invitation travels to Cape Town.
YES LET’S!
