Pichi Keane (pronounced "peachy keen") is a singing AFAB drag queen with an insatiable lust for life...and other delicacies! Freshly Squeezed is a drag cabaret bursting with flavour that's sure to leave you with more than a mouthful. Pichi serves cheeky comedy, brassy belting and BDE (big diva energy), while inviting the audience to embrace themselves and revel in queer joy. This juicy musical journey showcases a wealth of genres, and features hit songs by Taylor Swift, Qveen Herby, Lizzo and Miley Cyrus.
The critically acclaimed Freshly Squeezed is Pichi Keane’s juicy drag cabaret for the thirsty. Following the rip-roaring success of her award-winning show Ripe ‘n Ready, AFAB queen Pichi is back to serve cheeky comedy, brassy belting and BDE (big diva energy). In 2024, Freshly Squeezed received a Standard Bank Ovation Award for its debut performance at the National Arts Festival Makhanda, and made its international debut with shows in Hong Kong and Manila.
Pichi Keane is a singing queen, glamour clown and self-proclaimed pleasure activist on a mission to make more people laugh and lube up. Pichi Keane first started performing in drag in 2019 while living in Hong Kong, where she quickly became a familiar face at premier queer events as performer and MC, despite the dampener of the pandemic on the social scene. She collaborated with her drag sister Trash Queen Doris to co-produce Get Trash’d - a variety drinking game show - as well as working with one of Hong Kong’s funniest femmes, Fran Ayala-Rock, to present Big Bad Bingo Bonanza, Sex Ed: An Uncensored Trivia and more. A trained vocalist with experience in musical theatre, jazz, pop and rock, she established her band Pichi Keane & the Swing Machine - a project featuring some of Hong Kong’s most sought-after musicians. Pichi has enjoyed numerous sold-out shows with her debut drag cabaret Ripe ’n Ready, performed on the main stage at the Cape Town Pride Festival Mardi Gras, and released her debut single titled Came Here To Dance. In 2024, Pichi was awarded the Cape Town Pride Heroes Performer of the Year Award, and debuted Freshly Squeezed internationally with shows in Hong Kong and Manila.
Meg Van Wyk is the creatrix of the characters Pichi Keane and Mistress Mae, and the Director of Fruity Lix Productions (Pty) Ltd. Meg trained as a Musical Theatre performer and after graduating, joined the Ubom! Eastern Cape Drama Company as a company member under the creative direction of Janet Buckland in 2013. She relocated to Johannesburg in 2014 and was involved with the Jittery Citizens improvisation troupe and The Framework, while also working on theatre productions such as Hanamichi, Simply Broadway and Sing Happy.
After relocating to Hong Kong in 2018, Meg joined a motley crew of cabaret artists finessing a monthly risque cabaret and started to perform in drag in 2019. Since returning to South Africa in 2022, Meg has written,, produced and performed three award-winning solo shows Ripe ‘n Ready (Standard Bank Silver Ovation Award, 2023) Freshly Squeezed (Standard Bank Ovation Award, 2024), s'il vous plaît (Silver Ovation Award, 2025), released their debut EP Trousseau, as well as a debut single for Pichi Keane titled Came Here to Dance. She is proud to have been awarded the Cape Town Pride Heroes Performer of the Year Award (2024) as Pichi Keane.
