FINALLY ON STAGE IN CAPE TOWN!
It has a name… But CK spends her childhood convinced that she’ll be committed if anyone finds out… so she counts… Counts to contain…
Toni Morkel and director, Sylvaine Strike, have woven together a compelling narrative exploring the life of fictional character, CK, a little girl burdened by the pathological carelessness of her parents. CK goes through her journey with her loyal dog, Luigi, who is always by her side, keeping cavey as she digs through everything carefully.
Cottonwool Kid is loosely based on some of Toni Morkel’s autobiographical material.
First performed at POPArt , Johannesburg in 2018, this is what people had to say:
The genius, the beauty and the horror, the funny that is heart-wrenching - Owen Lonzar, International choreographer
A remarkable balance of hard hitting and poignancy. Beautifully controlled, skilled .. .fantastic material cleverly weaved together - Gerard Bester, Artistic Director of the Windybrow Theatre
