Umzimba is a solo dance work that is about the recognition of the recording of emotions by the body and the transitions that take place in the body and in the society at large. 

ARTIST


Mahle Dlambulo (he/they) is the Trainee Dance Teacher in Contemporary Dance at Igugu-lethu Arts and Leadership Project and Artistic Director at Igugu-Lethu Arts Movement. Born and bred in Gugulethu, his love and passion for the arts has shaped the majority of his life. He began his training in the project where he is currently a trainee teacher. His dedication earned him a scholarship to attend the virtual Alonzo King Lines Summer Intensive Program of 2021. They were awarded an in-person fellowship to the 2022 Summer Intensive in San Francisco. They have performed in many productions and  choreographer their own works.  Mahle aims to combine the knowledge they gain from their study in Applied Pedagogy and Gender Studies at the University of Cape Town to create art with meaning, and to share their skills in order to enrich future generations of artists.
