THANDO DONI | Eutopia

Eutopia was performed at Theatre Arts in August 2012. Despite an incredible response to the work and the depth of emotion it mined, it never performed again.

Borrowing aesthetics from African rituals, poetry, music and storytelling, the play follows a story of a young boy struggling to find the perfect world. Eutopia explores the state of waiting …. for change, for promises, for the perfect world … Drawing off the experience of millions of South Africans who are still waiting for the world that was promised in 1994, Eutopia asks the question –

Is there such a world?

Can it ever exist?
