Clouds Like Waves is an original play about love, loss, longing and relationships. It is about growing old, being a child, burying the dead and fear and fighting. It is a play written in short scenes and monologues and it is beautiful and sad and funny, and universal and important and silly.

Clouds Like Waves premiered at the NY Winter Fringe in 2019, directed by Jaci De Villiers. This is the first time it will be staged in South Africa. This production was borne out of the death of theatre during the pandemic. It is a resurrection, a passion project, a small theatrical miracle with a budget of zero, but all the love and will in the world.

MEGAN CHORITZ  is a South African born playwright, actor, writer, director and improviser. She has spent all of her life involved in theatre and make-believe.  She has written and co-written numerous plays and musicals, performed and directed theatre, and she used to make industrial theatre before COVID. She has just finished writing her second novel, and her first rhyming children’s book The Big Bird Battle was published in June 2020. She is currently waiting to hear if her screenplay will be made into a movie. Hold thumbs.  In the meantime, she has started dating theatre again after a heart-breaking break-up during COVID. Clouds Like Waves has brought her back to life.

RUDY NADLER-NIR. 65, just-now/now-now. Writing, reading, teaching and learning, some theatre history, years back, directing. Marrying people. He's here because he loves the play, and the person who wrote it is his bestie. He is so excited to be helping Megan and this incredible cast to spin this delicious Stephen Kingesque yarn. Enjoy!

TANDI BUCHAN is a professional actress, writer, director, teacher and voice over artist. She is also the Artistic Director of C.T’s Award winning Improv group, ImproGuise who are best known for "Theatresports" and has been improvising in C.T and around the globe for close on 30 years. Tandi is passionate about teaching and has been a Senior lecturer of Voice and Improvisation at The Waterfront Theatre school for the past 11 years.

COLEEN VAN STADEN has enjoyed thirty+  years of acting, writing and directing and is currently a co-director of Circle Productions that offers drama-based enrichment programmes to schools, NGOs and Groups. Her recent leap back onto a stage was in a memoir-style piece, Perfect Day,  that she wrote and performed for the 2021 NAF Online Fringe. 'Being back on the boards with a superb cast, an amazing theatre piece, and a live audience, is a 2022 dream come true!'

PEGGY TUNYISWA is a performance artist based in Cape Town but hails from Keiskammahoek in the Eastern Cape. Apart from acting, she has been a director on isiXhosa productions, trained voice over artist, and a panelist in the Fleur Du Cap Theatre Awards. Peggy has interest in the development of arts in the previously disadvantaged communities and involves herself with projects in the non- profit sector and also runs her own program teaching children to save money.

Over the past fifty years ROYSTON STOFFELS has been a schoolteacher, musician, actor and director.  He most recent stage performance was Aunty Merle the Musical.  He has appeared in numerous movies including Felix, Material 1 and 2, Vaselyntjie and Rykie, and his TV appearances include Suidooster, Alles Malan, Kantlyn and Arendsvlei.

ROY HUNTER started working professionally in theatre in 1981 for the opening of State Theatre Pretoria in the costume props department. At Wits drama school he discovered he could sing and dance and for years appeared in musicals: favorites being Crazy for You, Me and my Girl, Singin’ in the Rain and Janice Honeyman’s Hair. He was at Ratanga Junction for a while, worked in the commercial film industry for a few years and most recently at Cape Town Opera as Producer.

NIC LEONIDAS first entered the entertainment industry pursuing a career as a professional actor. A strong calling for behind the scenes work and exploring more diverse pursuits beckoned and he has found his niche as a Cape Town based actor’s agent, producer, and theatre director. His belief is that we learn from our experience and his exciting journey allows great experiences to draw from and feed into his work.
